Reflection

Overall not only in my opinion, but the opinion of the group as whole, we believe that we worked successfully to create a piece of work that would be fitting for the Whitworth Art Gallery’s shop. Throughout this project there have been many challenges such as time constraints, material malfunctions with the aesthetics (glazing and rough textures after firing) and with the fragility of the porcelain. In addition we also experienced technical issues (misprints and exhibition setup) and problems with trying to ensure everyone had their own part with the collaboration. However, I truly believe that we managed to overcome every issue that arose with this project and that changing our final outcome enabled everyone to have a job - which worked extremely well. Also, I think that our exhibition set up was professional, that our film displayed the aesthetic and branding of mindfulness that our product aimed for and that everyone's work in the show was of a professional standard and reflected the wide range of experiences and sights the Whitworth has to offer. Personally, by doing this project I believe it has aided me with my practice showing me that collaboration can work well with the right people and that if an establishment such as the Whitworth can clearly see your ideas and you can pitch it confidently, then there is a possibility something could come of it (for example at the exhibition, a Whitworth representative noted that our product "should be a kit"). Furthermore, I think possibly in the future if the right people came along I would consider being part of another collaborative project, but for the present I want to focus on my own work.
